A senior school girl at King’s Ely has been included in a national hockey training camp.
Rebecca Daniel, 14, recently attended a high performance assessment hockey camp (HIPAC) in Leeds, where she represented the Saxon Tigers.
The three day residential camps are held annually for players in the under 15 and under 17 age group who have been selected from their regional squads.
These squads are called the Saxon Tigers, the Pennines Pumas, the Wessex Leopards and the Mercian Lynx.
The HIPAC aims to give players first-hand experience of an international training camp environment, in preparation for potential future involvement in national age group squads.
Rebecca performed well and scored four goals for the Saxon Tigers in the competitions against the other three regions. She currently plays hockey for Cambridge City, as well as the school’s U15A team.
Chanre Bond, Head of Hockey at King’s Ely, remarked: “Rebecca is the first under 15 girl to go through to HIPAC from King’s Ely and she has the dedication and ability to develop into a first class player within the National arena.”
