King’s Ely pupils jumping for joy at reaching 2019 finals and Royal Windsor Show

Pupils from King’s Ely’s equestrian team will be representing the school at both the National Schools’ Equestrian Assocation (NSEA) show jumping finals and the Royal Windsor Horse Show in 2019.
And some of the school’s talented young riders will also be competing at the Hickstead Elite Qualifiers following their stellar efforts at the NSEA Show Jumping qualifiers, held at Forest Edge Arena in Swaffham, Norfolk.
In the 70cms class, Ellie Grimsey came second, qualifying for the County Championships, while Ryan De Sousa came fifth.
And in the 80cms class, De Sousa qualified for the County Championships after coming fifth.
In the 90cms class, the team of Adele Shaw, Ryan De Sousa, Grimsey and Emily Gredley came second, qualifying them for both the County Championships and the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
Shaw also won top honours in the class, qualifying her for the County Championships as an individual.
In the 1m class, the team of Shaw, Gredley, Katie Cameron and Eleanor Fairey came out on top against their vials, qualifying them for both the County Championships and Hickstead International.
Cameron came second individually, qualifying her for the County Championships. wjo;e Gredley was fifth and Fairey finished sixth.
In the 1m 10cms class, Fairey came fourth, again qualifying her for the County Championships, while Cameron was sixth.
Manager of the King’s Ely qquestrian team, Sue Cameron, said: “Our riders’ success on the day means they will be representing Cambridgeshire schools at a national competition, representing King’s Ely at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
“And for those who qualified for Hickstead, it will be a chance to jump in the main arena at an international competition.
“The hard work and dedication of the riders, their parents and some very talented ponies has culminated in some amazing successes recently.
“I am not only proud of their results, but also how they conduct themselves and have fun when they are together and competing.”
