A youngster from King’s Ely has continued her rise in athletics by lacing her running shoes up for one of the biggest races in the sporting calendar.

Rebecca Daniels took the trip to London last month to take part in her third consecutive Mini Marathon and British Road Championship.

Daniels stayed at Royal Holloway University, where she and other young athletes were given a series of talks from stars such as triathletes, the Brownlee brothers and gymnast, Max Whitlock.

Representing the east, Rebecca finished the three mile course in an impressive time of 18 minutes and five seconds, crossing the line in 39th place.

Jim Thompson, Head of Athletics at King’s Ely, said: “This is another great performance from Rebecca. She is improving every year, and can now look forward to a successful track season this summer.”
