CRUSADERS finished the season with a good win over Fulbourn.

Against a blustery win in the first half, Ely did well to match the home side and create three or four good chances, one of which Hayden Palmer took to equalise after Fulbourn had taken the lead from a corner.

In the second half, Ely had more of the possession and took the lead when Justin Phillips scored with a neat finish after getting between defence and keeper.

Crusaders seemed to be in control at this stage of the game but conceded again when two Fulbourn attackers went clear and the defence stopped as the flag went up.

This proved to be a mistake as the ball was tapped into the net and the goal was given. To their credit, Ely came back again and a cross from Phillips was side-footed home on the volley by Matthew McCarthy.

Keeper Jamie Clark was man of the match for making good saves at crucial times.

Mepal Sports 6 Witchford 0

MEPAL were again in good goal scoring form in their 6-0 victory over Witchford.

The visitors had inflicted a narrow defeat over the home side earlier in the season, but a repeat never looked likely.

George Rayner's skilful run and finish put Mepal ahead after a nervy opening with the sides seemingly well matched.

The home side's strength in depth soon began to tell, however, with well taken strikes from Shane Whatley and Kassem Lloyd increasing Mepal's lead.

Mepal's confidence began to grow and Joshua Fenner crashed home the fourth.

More enterprising play saw Harrison Jones grab a fifth and with James Rayson and a third consecutive 6-0 victory was assured when Smith coolly slotted home towards the end.
