Julia leads way as Ely Barracudas swimmers compete at East Region ASA Open Water championships

Julia Yeates won gold for City of Ely Barracudas swimming club at the East Region ASA Open Water championships in Norwich.

The 19 year-old won the 1500m in the 17-19 age group (22:00.39).

Six other club members were also in action at the championships, where swimmers of all ages from across the Eastern region competed in a range of events covering 800m up to a gruelling 5km.

Rose Beckmann (15:16.32) and Madeleine Websdale (18:08.25) completed the 800m. John Surbey also took part, but did not finish.

As well as Yeates, Joseph Alsop (23:57.14), Cadell Beckmann (28:20.32) and James Austin (24:18.87).
