UEA Sportspark in Norwich was the venue for a competition and promotion exam on Sunday where Littleport Judo Club players entered a mini-mon competition or promotion exam.
In the competition, Harry Moore showed no nerves winning his first contest with throws and holding his second opponent for a win. He was thrown by his third opponent but still took a well-deserved silver medal.
Alex Kathro fought well against strong opposition but, despite being injured in his last contest, had done enough to win a bronze medal in his weight category.
There were two junior players and one senior in the promotion exam. Jordan Colwill, a sixth mon junior yellow belt, won his opening contest but could not get the better of his second opponent. Jordan gained promotion to eighth mon, orange belt with two tags.
Andrew Pickerill entered the junior section as a 12th mon green belt and showed good throwing technique in winning his first contest. He then fought the largest player in the group who was two years older but, despite good technique, Andrew lost the contest. No mistakes in the third contest which Andrew won to gain promotion to 14th mon, blue belt and two tags.
Mark Kathro entered the senior section as seventh kyu, orange belt and came close to winning his first contest with a strangle but his opponent eventually secured him on the ground. Mark followed this loss with wins in later contests and was promoted to sixth kyu, green belt.
