THERE was plenty of competitive racing when 18 boats took part in Ely Sailing Club's Solo Open meeting on Saturday.
Jon Clarke, of Draycote Sailing Club, took an early lead which he maintained until the finish of race one.
Ewan Birkin-Walls, from Grafham SC, came in second followed by Godfrey Clark, from Fishers Green SC, and Ely's Simon Leeks in fourth.
Leeks, pictured, took an early lead in race two but was passed by Birkin-Walls who found more favourable wind to edge out the Ely sailor at the finish line. Jon Clarke came in third.
The changeable wind resulted in a new course for race three and Clarke held the lead all the way. Birkin Walls was second ahead of Godfrey Clark in third.
Overall results: 1 Jon Clarke, Draycote (two race wins); 2 Ewan Birkin-Walls, Grafham (first and second); 3 Simon Leeks, Ely (second and fourth).
