LYNSAY Williams may have experienced nerves ahead of her first appearance in the Open Tae Kwon-Do World Championships but she performed brilliantly to bring home a silver and bronze medal.

Lynsay, from Ely, was suffering from a broken toe but, having been selected for the England Ladies squad, she was determined to rise to the occasion.

She was one of 2,000 competitors from 40 countries competing for honours at the eighth world championships, at the National Indoor Arena, Birmingham.

And her training at the Mark Farnham School of Tae Kwon-Do paid off when she returned home with a silver in tag team sparring and a bronze in light-heavyweight sparring.

It is the latest success story for Lynsay, who has won more than 90 medals and trophies since starting in the sport five years ago.

She also won an award for the best performer in achieving first dan in black belt gradings two years ago.

The Mark Farnham Schools of Tae-Kwon-Do train at venues throughout Fenland. For more information, call Mark Farnham on 07771 644460 or visit the website at www.mftkd.co.uk
