LEAGUE MATCHES

TRIPLE-S easily overcame a weak Newmarket Albion side on Sunday, winning the Senior Division clash 8-2.

They led 3-2 at the break, and hit five unanswered goals in the second half as Scott Fretwell (4), Ben Howe (2), Ben Fuller and Lee Moll clinched the points.

In Division 1A, title favourites Ely Park Rangers suffered only their second league defeat of the season, losing 1-0 at Arbury.

Jamie Alsop hit a post for Ely and efforts from Liam Hart and Andrew Lee were cleared off the line.

"We did everything but score," said beaten manager Dale Spring.

Colin Coulson (3), Jamie Harvey (2) and Jamie Salmons were among the scorers as QPR Ely thrashed Over Crusaders 8-1 in Division 2A, but in the next section down Little Downham United were thumped 5-0 by Grove.

Division 3A leaders Village Inn retained their unbeaten league record, coming from behind to share the spoils with a useful Chippenham outfit.

Jonathan Chase included a sweet left-foot volley in his brace, and Tom Parrish was the other player on target as Village Inn subsequently led twice before being forced to settle for a 3-3 draw.

Wilburton Albion continue to set the pace in Division 4A, maintaining their unblemished record with a comfortable success at Wicken Maids Head.

Will Ludbrooke's superb opener was followed by Mark Smith's finish from a Dan Page cross, and Mel Pryer powered in a header from Shane Freeland's corner to make it 3-1 after Wicken had pulled a goal back.

The hosts responded again to reduce the interval deficit to a single goal, but Ludbrooke went on to complete another hat-trick in the second period to make the final score 5-2.

LTFC 1906 kept up their pursuit of the leaders with a 3-2 victory at Prince of Wales Newmarket.

Sean Monigatti (2) and Nathan Bennett put them 3-1 up after the concession of an early goal, but the hosts reduced the arrears to a single goal after a defensive error.

Fox Burwell saw their hopes of a top-two finish evaporate with a 2-1 defeat at Lakenheath Eagles.

SEMI-FINAL

ELY Park Rangers Reserves are through to the final of the competition after a nailbiting 2-1 victory over Shelford Falcons.

Ely started well, and shots from Matt Brodie and Erhan Okay tested the Shelford keeper.

The Falcons defence was eventually breached by Brodie's penalty following a handball, but they deservedly equalised by stabbing the ball home after goalkeeper Lee Follen had fumbled a corner.

Rangers were well on top in the second half and clinched the tie in spectacular fashion with 20 minutes remaining, a 25-yard free-kick from Peter Munns flying into the top corner of the net.

The final is scheduled for April 29, with Rangers taking on favourites Stapleford.
