Rowing Isle of Ely Rowing Club member Holly Hill is set to feature in this year’s university boat race on the River Thames.
Hill will be lining up for Cambridge when they face off against Oxford in the women’s race, taking place on Saturday.
Downing College student, Hill is part of the Isle of Ely’s GB Start programme, which aims to identify and nurture future Olympians. She has been chosen for the number six seat in the Cambridge women’s boat.
Former club chairman, Derek Pickersgill said: “This is a huge achievement for someone who only took up the sport in 2013 after being inspired by the performance of the GB rowers in the London Olympics and subsequently recruited through the Sporting Giants talent identification programme.
“This year’s women’s race will be particularly memorable as it will be the first to be rowed on the same course as the men - from Putney to Mortlake on the Thames Tideway.”
