Golf Ely City Golf Club’s Natasha Bamford became the first girl to win Ipswich Golf Club’s Junior Open at the weekend.

In the competition, which is open to both boys and girls, Natasha put together a faultless round of golf, scoring 48 points to clinch top spot.

As a result she has reduced her handicap from 28 to 23.

Elsewhere, Ely’s junior vice captain Chloe Ashman has been in tremendous form over the past few weeks. She has won the Hilda Vail Trophy with a nett score of 69, reducing her handicap from 13 to 11. And she followed that up by winning the Alan Heap Salver, with an excellent score of 43 points, reducing her handicap to just eight.

Another Ely Junior, Ella Mason, played in a Daily Telegraph junior qualifier at Burghley Park where she produced some excellent golf to take top honours with a score of nett 61. As a result Ella reduced her handicap from 26 to 20.
