Swimming Swimmer Iona Trainer will be representing the Ely Baracudas at the East Region Championships, which begin on Saturday.
The 12-year-old, who studies at Ely College, qualified for the championships with an impressive time of 31.39secs in the 50m freestyle and will now pit her talents against the best from across East Anglia.
The championships take place at the University of East Anglia, in Noriwch, on Saturday and Sunday and will feature swimmers from Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
Iona said: “I am really pleased with myself. By the end of 2015 I wanted to try and get a regional time, and so am happy to get one now. I hope I get some more by the end of this year.”
