AN inspired revival saw Soham Town Rangers come from four goals down to take a share of the points at Leighton Town.

The Greens looked dead and buried after 20 minutes as lamentable defending saw them fall 4-0 behind, but a sensational second-half fight-back saw Ian Benjamin's men seal a share of the spoils after a frenzied late flurry.

The game itself began disastrously for the Greens as they fell a goal behind after just two minutes, after a free-kick was forced home at the near post.

Matters soon become considerably worse for the visitors as home striker Ben Gallant showed his class with a sensational hat-trick that saw the home side into a comfortable lead.

Dejected and wounded, Soham may have fallen yet further behind but for the sterling work of custodian Ian Pledger who remained on top-form to deny Leighton a fifth.

Pledger's efforts were rewarded after 37 minutes as Scott Carter headed home to offer the visitors a glimmer of hope.

Less than 10 minutes into the second-half and a glimmer became a ray as Dubi Ogbonna slotted home from the edge of the box to make it 4-2.

With an endemic panic now starting to spread amongst the home defence, Soham seized their opportunity to plunder another goal as talisman Michael Simpson curled home from outside the area after fine work from Charles Libam on the wing.

Sensing at least a point was now within their grasp, Soham threw caution to the wind and stormed forward in search of an equaliser. Their herculean efforts were finally rewarded two minutes from time when right-sided midfielder Luke Hipwell, smashed high into the net after forging into the box.

The draw sees the Greens move onto 13 points and up into 17th place in the Zameretto League Division One.
