ELY Runners' Ian Day raced himself into good form ahead of this month's London Marathon with an admirable top five finish in the Hull 20 mile.

With the flagship London event set to take place on April 26, Day line up along side more than 400 runners at the start line in Hull all eager to put the final touches to months of training.

The Ely Runner was seldom distracted by the sheer volume of competition though, and sped to a impressive fifth place finish in a new personal best time of 2:01:28. Day also picked up a new club MV35 record to complete a fine day's running.
