Fourteen-year-old Vishara Davies (above) has been selected for the eastern region and Cambridgeshire county under-15 hockey squads.
Vishara, regarded as a skilled player in defence, captains the Year Nine hockey team at the King's School Ely, where her talent was first spotted while she was a pupil in the Junior School.
Chanré Bond, who played hockey at international level for South Africa, and joined the sports staff at King's in September, said: "We are delighted that the selectors have picked Vishara. She is also proving to be a good netball player and talented middle distance runner.
