THREE young roller hockey players have been invited to train with the England development squad in Portugal.

Kasia Parfitt and Emma Gillett, both from Ely, will accompany Cambridge's Emily Rawlinson when they join the junior ladies squad and play in a mini tournament.

They will get the opportunity to improve their skills in one-to-one coaching sessions and compete against players of a very high standard.

Boys in the under-11 age group have recently taken part in a Portugal training camp and were undefeated in all their matches. Their run of wins included a 5-3 victory over the England under-13 B team.

Ely under-11s were in action at the National Finals in Manchester where they lost 11-2 to Herne Bay United in the final.

The team were satisfied in the knowledge that they had scored against a side that had kept them out all season. They each collected silver medals for finishing as runners-up.

Ely Roller Hockey Club will end their fantastic season on Saturday with their annual player awards night.
