Both of Ely City’s top sides hit six goals as they continued their fine recent East Leagues form.

The men’s firsts hammered Leadenham firsts 6-1 in Division Three North-West, while the ladies firsts secured their sixth straight success by beating Newmarket firsts by the same score line in the same division in the women’s league.

The men’s impressive recent form, which has seen them experience defeat just once in their last five games, has fired them to third in the league standings.

The ladies are now only three wins off top spot in their division and occupy fourth place.

It was a less successful weekend for the struggling men’s 2nds, however, who were beaten 4-0 by City of Peterborough 7ths in the Five North-West Division.

Similarly, the men’s 3rds were thumped 5-0 by Cambridge Nomads 5ths in Division Six North-West (South).

The women’s 2nd’s push for promotion received another boost thanks to a 2-0 win over Huntingdon 2nds in Division Four North-West (South), while the 3rds remain rooted to the bottom of the division following a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Cambridge South 3rds.
