Khalsa 121 Fordham 72

Khalsa won by 49 runs

FORDHAM'S disappointing start to their season continued with a 49-run defeat at the hands of new boys Khalsa.

On a day that favoured the bowlers, Khalsa were under pressure from the start as their top five wickets fell with only 23 runs on the board.

A mini-recovery allowed them to reach 77-5, but then, with nothing to lose, the visitors attacked and Fordham allowed their opponents to make more runs than they should have done.

Khalsa were dismissed in the 38th over for 121, opener Ahmed top-scoring with 48.

For Fordham, Clinton Cornwell took 4-27 off 14 overs in a determined spell and he was supported well by Craig Theobald (3-27) and Dave Stannard (3-25).

Fordham never looked comfortable, and with the introduction of Sharma into the attack they struggled to take control.

Only three batsmen made double figures as the Fordham innings fell apart and they slumped to 72 all out.

n Fordham's second and third XI matches fell victim to Saturday's downpour, without a ball being bowled.
