CITY of Ely bowler Greg Harlow secured a dream end to the World Indoor Bowls Championships on Sunday as he beat Stewart Anderson in straight sets to be crowned World Champion.

The 41-year-old completed his lifelong dream of winning the prestigious title with a consummate 9-8, 10-3 victory, capping the performance with his now trademark celebratory cartwheel.

The fifth seed, who has come within a whisker of the title on several occasions, was made to work hard for the win by plucky Scotsman Anderson, who stormed to the final on the back of several impressive victories, most notably over five-time world champion Alex Marshall.

After Harlow edged the first set by a single shot, the tie became increasingly tense before the 41-year-old scored a match-turning triple that moved him into a decisive 8-3 lead. Two winning ends later and Harlow clinched the championship.
