MILDENHALL maintained their hopes of a top-six finish with this win - but Clacton made them work hard for it.

Graham Rush put 'Hall ahead after five minutes, latching on to a flick-on following a Wayne Goddard corner, and Goddard himself made it 2-0 shortly after from a Chris Bacon pass.

Goddard's second of the game made it 3-0 on the half-hour, as Ricky Cornish sprinted 50 yards before delivering a fine cross, allowing Goddard to finish with ease.

Clacton got a goal back on the stroke of half-time, as a kick from 'Hall goalkeeper Ben Nower was charged down, leaving the Clacton striker with a simple task.

Tom English scored 'Hall's fourth five minutes after the break, and although Clacton got back into the game with two quick goals shortly afterwards, English himself put the result beyond doubt in the last minute of normal time, initially heading against the bar but being first to the rebound.

'Hall assistant manager Ricky Cornish said: "It wasn't our best performance but at the end of the day it was a potential banana-skin and we got the three points.

"There's another 15 points still to play for and I would hope that we could take at least 12 of them, which would keep us on target for a top-six finish.
