A TALENTED team of young boxers from the Haddenham and Ely Boxing Club are preparing to make the trip to Denmark to take on some of Europe’s finest young boxers.
The team, a mixture of experienced amateur fighters and young hopefuls, will fly out with coach Mike Sawyer on Friday to take part in the Haslev tournament, that will see them take on young fighters from France, Germany, Denmark, Italy and beyond.
The tournament takes place over two days, with the fighters facing the prospect of two bouts if they are successful in their categories, which are based on weight and experience.
Coach Mike Sawyer said: “Some of the lads have been before and some are going for the first time but they are all really looking forward to it. It will be a great experience for them.”
The lads will also be in action at the club’s latest dinner show, which takes place at Ely College, in Downham Road, on October 6. The fights start at 7.45pm.
