Following on from the success of local bowls champions, Nick Brett and Ellen Falkner, in the 2016 Just Retirement World Indoor Bowls Championships, youngsters from Ely Juniors have won the Potters Junior Triples competition.
Held on the famous blue rink in the International Arena at Potters Resort, the competition saw Lucy Akroyd, Ben Chapman and Jamie Chapman claim victory over the Riverain junior team on Sunday January 24. Ely Juniors won 12-1.
The annual competition at Potters Resort was run by Potters Bowls Ambassador, current Scottish International Open winner and 2010 World Indoor Bowls singles champion, Greg Harlow.
Greg said: “Ely were on fire when they were performing and deserved their win on the day. Over 60 children from 12 clubs and six countries took part in the qualifiers in December to try and get a spot in the finals. Great fun was had by all and all who took part were excited to play on the same carpet that the top players from around the world had been competing on.”
