SOHAM Town Rangers recovered from two goals down to secure a draw with Zamaretto League newcomers Uxbridge at the weekend.
The visitors stunned Ian Benjamin’s young Greens with two goals in a whirlwind opening 15 minutes, but the home side soon recovered and managed to take a share of the spoils thanks to some encouraging attacking play.
Uxbridge opened the lead after just seven minutes as Chris Moore netted from the spot after the referee ruled John Turner had fouled striker Kevin Warner in the box.
Matters soon worsened for the Greens as, after spurning some good opportunities of their own, Uxbridge’s Stuart Farrell slotted home from distance after an incisive run.
Some good chances for Shawn Richards and Dubi Ogbonna early in the second half raised hopes of a way back into the game for the home side and the breakthrough finally came after 62 minutes as Deakan Napier drilled home from outside the box following some good work by league debutante Sam Mason-Smith.
Soham continued to push in the aftermath of the goal and their edeavour was rewarded some eight minutes later as Turner atoned for his early indiscretion with a delightful freekick from range.
