SOHAM Town Rangers capped 2009 with a disappointing loss as they went down 1-0 at Biggleswade Town.
The Greens had enjoyed a timely festive boost coming into the game with impressive back-to-back wins but they failed to make it three-in-a-row as a late strike from Town's Bobby Dance sealed the points.
The loss sees Soham remain in 17th place with the visit of Bury Town on January 2 their next challenge.
The game itself was a largely even affair with chances for either side in the first-half. The Green's best opening came after 10 minutes as Richard Gammon collected a slide-rule pass from strike partner, Dubi Ogbonna. Fortunately for Town, Gammon's resultant shot was blocked by Kevin Kilroy.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 78th minute as Dance evaded a number of defenders to fire home from just inside the box.
