LITTLEPORT'S Sean Greatbach took the plaudits at the weekend as he made the most of the poor conditions to take first place.

Incessant heat meant that the fish were spawning all day and showed little interest in feeding.

However Sean Greatbach (Littleport AC) managed to put 61lb 4oz of mainly carp on the scales caught from the margins on the pole on peg 15

Second place went to Adrian Crane who caught 35lb 5oz (Littleport AC) again from the margins on the pole from peg 11

Nicola Plumb (Littleport AC) showed the men how to do it when she had two fish for 25lb and secured 3rd place from peg 27.

This was the last of Littleport's closed season matches this year and they start fishing again on the Ouse at Littleport on June 21.

This season is the first for the clubs new match committee and they are running more matches on different venues this year. As well as several matches on different sections of the Ouse they have matches on the River Trent, River Lark , River Wissey, Middle Level system and some stillwaters such as Dents Farm shop lake and Kingsland. All club matches can now be fished by anyone whether a member or not, any non members just pay 1.00 extra on the day. Anyone interested in fishing any matches can ring Iain Vigar on 07789111491
