Cycling Ely and District Cycling Club’s Phil Gosling took part in his first 100-mile time trial at the weekend.

Gosling joined 55 other competitors on the start line in Swaffham, Norfolk, for the 2014 RTTC National 100-mile Championship.

Gosling had club mate Derek Ricketts providing support during the ride, with regular water and food top ups. Gosling finished in 39th place in a time 4 hours and 52 minutes.

The championship was won by South Pennine rider, Charles Taylor, who recorded a time of 3 hours and 43 minutes. The event started dry, but as the time went on the heavy showers gave many a good soaking.

Another Ely Cycling Club member in action over the weekend was Matt Eley, who took part in the Unity CC 25 SPOCO, where he finished in 5th place in a time of 59 minutes and 22 seconds.
