Cycling Ely and District Cycling Club members enjoyed some strong finishes at the opening round of the BikeArt Winter Series held in Thetford Forest at the weekend.
Club members lined up against more than 100 other competitors and, in the two-hour race, Matt Eley crossed the line in 17th place out of 113 starters. He finished the four laps in a time of 2 hours, 12 minutes 29 seconds.
In the two-hour veterans category, John McAndrew finished sixth out of 138 starters, in a time of 2 hours, 8 minutes, 36 seconds. In the same category, club chairman, Martin Holland, finished in 60th place, while Colin Whitechurch finished 88th.
Forty-one starters took to the start line for the four-hour race and among them was Michael Gruenberger, who finished 31st in a time of 4 hours, 1 minute and 5 seconds, completing five laps.
The next round takes place on December 1 at Santon Downham.
