Golf Members and guests swapped clubs for spatulas at Ely City Golf Club on Sunday as the first ever Captain’s Bake Off was held.

The event was hosted by this year’s men’s captain, Dr Dave Woods, who oversaw the 20 male bakers who each entered a cake for the competition.

After a cream tea and culinary quiz, the cakes were auctioned by last year’s men’s captain, Philip Ambrose. Competition amongst the baking male golfers was intense, but the unanimous winning entry was a fabulous fraisier cake, produced by member, Dr Greg Davidson.

A total of £650 was raised for the club’s charity this year, the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
