Local golf talent Ella Mason has qualified for a top competition after easing to success at the Junior Girls Golf County Championship last weekend.
The Ely City youngster fought off competition from six other golfers in the 36-hole competition in Newmarket to seal her place at the Daily Telegraph Junior Championship later this year.
Ella posted an early score of 79 to take a seven shot lead over the rest of the field, before playing a solid round of 80 to take her total cross score to 159 and a winning margin of 17 shots. Ella also won the Biddy Wade Trophy for the most improved player for her score of 20 under par.
It was also a successful weekend for Ella’s clubmate Natasha Bamford, who scooped the prize for the best morning round after she notched an impressive gross score of 89.
