An amateur golfer from Ely is on his way to the UK final of the Audi Quattro Cup after cruising through the regional rounds.

Rob Treanor, representing Cambridge Audi, fought off stiff competition to win one of the rounds with a score of 41 points in an 18-hole tournament, playing under the Stableford format, in Milton Keynes.

The Audi Quattro Cup is golf’s largest amateur tournament, with 100,000 players across 51 countries.

Rob will go into next month’s final in Wiltshire alongside Chris Ludwig of Northampton with a view of reaching the world final at the picturesque Quivira Golf Club in Mexico in December.

The UK hopes to improve on last year’s impressive showing, which saw teams from South Hereford Audi, Coulsdon Audi and Beckenham Audi finish in the top 10 at the Real Club de Golf El Prat in Barcelona. Eric Kelley and Don Tate from the USA took the title.
