A Look at the Witchford Sports Partnership - with Di Baker

CIRCUS skills, tag rugby, netball, multi-skills and dance mat training are just some of the activities and sports which have been offered by the Witchford Sports Partnership since September this year.

The Government-funded partnership aims to increase the number of children, aged five to 16, taking part in school sport.

Every state school in England is now part of a partnership and the Witchford one has seven secondary schools, 51 primary schools and four special schools which take in East Cambridgeshire and Fenland.

It aims to develop curriculum PE and out of school activities and links to community clubs.

A recent activity day at Witchford Village College saw more than 50 children aged from seven to11 enjoyed a day of sport and many more of these will be organised throughout the year.

At the end of September, some Year 11 students from Witchford Village College were invited by sports equipment suppliers Zig Zag, to be a demonstration team at the Leisure Industry Week at the NEC, Birmingham.

From follow up discussions with some of the students involved, not only did they have a fantastic day by taking part, but they are now more aware of the scale and diversity of the fitness industry and what different types of exercise activities are on offer.
