Ely ladies crashed to a disappointing 6-0 defeat at the hands of Cambridge University II on Saturday.

Despite having home advantage, Ali Chapman’s charges were not at the races against their mid-table rivals and couldn’t muster a response in front of goal as Cambridge dominated.

The result leaves Ely safe for another season in East Division 2NE in ninth place, with just one more game left to play, a trip to Cambridge Nomads on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Ely’s men’s side slipped to a 4-1 loss at Harpenden, consigning them a 20th loss in 21 games played. The East Division 1 side have already been relegated but have one more game left to play, the visit of Saffron Walden on Saturday, in their bid to earn their first win of the season.
