CHAMPIONS-elect Ely were in imperious form at the weekend as they subjected visitors Wisbech 2s to an 11-0 hammering.
Hat-tricks from Krista Hopkinson, Chanre Bond and Gemma Voutt did much of the damage for the home side as their incessant waves of attack time and again proved irresistible for Wisbech.
Captain Hannah Scotney, said: "We have been working on finding and using the space in training recently and I think that paid off today.
"It was a really good win and I think it is definitely one of our best victories as a team."
Dominant from the first whistle, Ely netted at frighteningly regular intervals with the opening goal coming after just five minutes courtesy of a Bond penalty corner. Hopkinson doubled the lead not two minutes later for Ely as she drove home following a fast break up field.
Two virtuoso efforts from Gemma Voutt put daylight between the two sides and three further goals from Bond and Hopkinson brought the score to 7-0 at half-time.
Keen to make hay, Ely made the advantage eight minutes after half-time and were contented thereafter to consolidate their lead.
To Wisbech's credit they endeavoured to come away with at least a goal and were lead by the battling efforts of their number five who toiled at length to make inroads into the Ely defence.
Try as they might however, the visitors were largely unsuccessful in their efforts and their stretched attack saw them concede a further three goals in the dying minutes as Ely sealed a resounding win.
