ANDREW Foster’s undefeated 65 helped Ely to a four wicket win over struggling Barrington.
With batsmen around him continuing to flounder, Foster’s calm head held the Ely innings together and ultimately sealed the win.
Scrupulously accurate bowling from Ely’s impressive attack ensured that, time and again, the Barrington batsmen fell flat. Nigel Hailstone was the best of a good bunch as he picked up 3-22 from his 12 overs and Oliver Swann Taylor also impressed with 2-26 as the home side were dismissed for 151.
Will Farnaby’s 30 opening for Ely ensured the foundations were set for the innings and the arrival of Foster at the crease strengthened Ely’s grip on the chase. A few notable failures looked like causing a late wobble for Ely but they held on to secure the win with eight overs to spare.
