An ex-GB Davis Cup duo helped Ely Tennis Club raise hundreds of pounds last weekend.

Danny Sapsford and Luke Milligan visited the local club on Sunday as part of Bright Ideas for Tennis’ initiative to support tennis clubs in the UK by increasing membership numbers, raising participation levels and improving facilities.

Danny and Luke coached over 60 players aged seven to 70 before taking on Ely juniors Georgia Shields and Emile Church, helping raise £400.

Mark Shields, who co-ordinated the event, said “We had a fantastic afternoon of coaching. Everyone I spoke to thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt a great deal. I know I did!”
