FORDHAM 1st XI had the lion's share of the spoils after locking horns with Weston Colville.

Put in to bat to start, Fordham stroked the ball around with some finesse and a strong knock of 45 from Matt Foulds helped the home side on to 200-7 at the end of the innings.

The match was finely balanced as Weston took to the crease, with periods of exceptional batting tempered by key wickets. Both sides looked in with a good chance of victory as the game moved towards the business end but, as the game looked to be slipping from Weston's grasp, the shutters came down and they defended with unshakeable vigour to secure the draw.

The 2nd XI's Phil Dean meanwhile, was in no mood to hang around in the field against Sutton as he claimed a remarkable 8-22 from eight overs to single handidly secure victory for the visitors.

Sutton's opening pairing racked up a healthy 50 runs from the opening 15 overs to put the home side in with a shot at a sizeable score.

They hadn't reckoned however, with the shattering impact of Dean's eight over spell as he smashed his way through the line up to see the team dismissed for just 132.

Fordham wobbled somewhat in reply, a number of early wickets tumbling to hand Sutton some hope, but the introduction of Ian Baldwin (40*) and Craig Theobold (17*) ensured victory was wrapped up for the loss of just four wickets.

Fordham thirds kept their noses in front at the top of the Division 5B after a fine victory at Histon.

Youngster Tom Peters took 5-24 for the visitors as Histon were bowled out for 170. Nick Foulds (49*) then carried his bat as many around him fell to see Fordham through to victory with just two overs to spare.
