FORDHAM 1st XI were narrowly edged out by Abington in a tense top-of-the-table clash.

Having won the toss, Fordham opted to bat and they steadily moved along to 65-2 before losing their momentum in the middle overs. Matt Foulds was the main run scorer with 35, helped with contributions from Mark Silcock (18) and Graham Arnold (16). They completed their 48 overs with 142-8. Fordham got off to a good start in reply with Charles Forden taking 2-43 followed by an excellent spell from Ian Jelleyman which saw him collect 3-19. Abington rallied in the latter stages though and edged home with one wicket to spare in the last over.

Fordham 3rd XI meanwhile remained top of the table after securing a 70 run win over Bottisham and Lode.

Sent in to bat first, Fordham were always comfortable at the crease, and none more so than young Nick Foulds who notched up 35 to help his team reach a total of 165-9 in 40 overs. Fordham pegged back Bottisham and Lode in reply by consistently taking wickets, Tom Peters led the attack with solid contributions from Nick Clark, Carl Houghton and Luke Bowers. The visitors fell well short of the required total ending up with 95.
