Fordham won by seven wickets

FORDHAM made it two in a row with an emphatic victory against Castor and Ailsworth.

Fordham fielded the same 11 players for the ninth consecutive league match and had no hesitation in putting in the opposition on a damp pitch.

They made the perfect start when Graham Arnold struck early on and, from then on, Castor lost wickets at regular intervals.

At one stage it appeared that the visitors would struggle to make three figures but stubborn resistance in the lower order took them to 126-9 at the close.

Arnold continued his good form with the ball, taking 5-35 and there were wickets for Carl Arnold, Jason Harding and Chris Rule.

Fordham openers Chris Rule and Mark Silcock laid the foundation for victory with a solid opening stand of 63.

Rule went for 30 but after two further losses, Neil Clark (24 not out) joined Silcock (46 not out) to see Fordham through to a comfortable win with 16 overs to spare.

CCA Division One North

Littleport v Fordham II

Fordham won by six wickets

FORDHAM welcomed back several players to their line-up and they gained just reward with a six-wicket win over Littleport.

Littleport began strongly with an opening stand of 57 but gradually Fordham got among the wickets.

The home side made 158, with Phil Dean taking 4-18 and producing a stunning catch in the gully.

Gary Palmer returned 2-19 and young Sean Brighty (2-25) gave admirable support with the ball.

Fordham openers Reece Theobald (35) and Geoff Arnold (19) made a solid half-century opening stand, and when these two had gone Scott Blaber (24) and Nev Bussingham (36 not out) saw Fordham home to a crucial victory with seven overs to spare.

CCA Division Three North

Pymoor v Doddington II

Pymoor won by 10 wickets

PYMOOR hosted Doddington II on Saturday and came away with a comfortable 10-wicket victory.

Doddington batted first and only opener Bentley reached double figures, carrying his bat for 44.

The next highest scorer was Ramford with seven, and five Doddington batsmen were dismissed for ducks.

The team was all out for 77 in 31.1 overs.

Three of Pymoor's bowlers - Butcher, Hurselman and Saberton -- picked up three wickets each and Ward had one for 11 off 10 overs with three maidens.

Paul Ruskin opened for Pymoor and top-scored with 33no. Ashley Legge was out for seven, which brought Dan Godsmark to the wicket.

He scored 32 and saw Pymoor home with 78-1. The sole wicket taker for Doddington was Jake Wenham.

CCA Division Three North A

Wimblington v Wilburton

Wimblington won by four wickets

WIMBLINGTON hosted Wilburton and inflicted the first league defeat of the season on the visitors, whose fielding let them down.

Alistair Braybrooke and Gary Dewey added 41 for the fifth wicket and there were good knocks from Braybrooke (25), Dewey (18) and Gary Foot (26).

Chris Hughes hit a rapid 22 in a total of 156-8. Matt Blackbourne for Wimblington was the best bowler with 2-12 from seven overs.

Chris Gowler opened for Wimblington and scored 33, supported by fellow opener Colin Buck, who scored a rapid 49 in 34 minutes.

Darren Berlick and Chris Hughes slowed the run rate but Wimblington's Dave Pomfret made 46 and Matt Blackbourne 12 as the pair added 40 in 34 minutes.

The result remained in the balance until the final over but Wimblington took the points with two balls remaining, reaching 160-6.

CCA Division Two North A

Sutton v Fenstanton

Sutton won by three wickets

SUTTON won the toss and put Fenstanton in on a very slow wicket.

Fenstanton found it hard going against excellent bowling from Sutton.

James Nuttall took a good catch in the slips off Cobbin to dismiss Yakub for 12 and Fenstanton were bowled out for 129.

Sutton's reply started poorly, with opener Braybrooke bowled for a duck by Piagessi, and went on to lose five wickets for 41.

Lloyd Brown kept the innings together with his 26 before he was bowled by Gifford.

Glen Campbell came in and smashed four sixes and seven fours in his 66 not out, including 24 off one over.

Sutton reached 130-7 in 28 overs and Piagessi ended with figures of 3-28.

CCA Senior League Division Three

Little Downham

v Burrough Green

Lt Downham won by one wicket

BURROUGH Green were sent in to bat first on the Little Downham ground on Saturday and were bowled out for 138 in 43.5 overs.

After a poor start, Green were steadied by Rees' 21 and Phillips' 28. Peter Baker was the most successful Little Downham bowlers, taking 4-18 off 3.5 overs and James White took 3-16.

After Heaps' dismissal for a duck, Little Downham were struggling on 20-2 when Cornwell came in and made 43.

The home side went on to make 139-9 off 38 overs.

Burrough Green's best bowlers were Polley, who took 3-37, and Singare, with 4-28.

CCA Junior League

Division Three North A

Bluntisham II v Sutton II

Bluntisham won by six wickets

SUTTON struggled to 102 all out from 27.1 overs, and P Day (28) and S Day (21) were the top scorers.

Sutton's Searle had a fantastic spell, taking 4-10 from five overs, while Manning took 3-16 from 5.1 overs.

In reply, Bluntisham's openers Durose (26 not out) and Curtis (45) set a solid foundation for victory.

The Sutton bowling attack was headed by P Day's 2-21 as Bluntisham made 105-4.
