Stalemate for Robins against Mildenhall

ROBINS boss Alan Alsop said his side were unlucky to come away with only a point from their tussle with high-flying Mildenhall Town on Easter Monday.
The City boss said his side did a superb job of containing the visitors attacking threat and were unfortunate not to make more of their own efforts on goal, which ultimately drew a blank.
“I was probably a little bit disappointed with the draw in the end because I felt we were the better side,” said Alsop. “We really put them under a lot of pressure and kept their attacks to a minimum at the back.
“The only chances they really fashioned were on the break and I felt we could have made more of our chances though we didn’t have that many.”
Mildenhall had the ball in the net after only seven minutes but Andrew Wood’s close range effort was quickly ruled out for offside. At the other end Nick Impey forced an acrobatic save from the visitors’ keeper and Impey was on hand minutes later, this time in defence, to deny Mildenhall the opener with a clearance off the line.
The second half yielded little in terms of chances though Robins’ defender Ben Lawrence felt aggrieved to have his headed goal disallowed by the referee who ruled he had fouled the visitors goalkeeper in the build-up.
The draw was Ely’s second inside three days following their 1-1 draw with Walsham-le-Willows at the Unwin Ground on Saturday.
Richard Chadwick volleyed wide with the goal begging after just five minutes before the visitors took the lead from the spot after the referee penalised goalkeeper Lee Pacey for a foul.
Walsham went close to making it two mere minutes later only for Pacey to produce a fine diving stop from a volley. Wide-man Impey drew Ely level in the 38th minute, latching on to a lofted through-ball before cutting on to his right foot and slotting past the goalkeeper.
Ely saw a header cleared off the line late in a tight second half before Pacey ensured Ely’s point with a brave stop three minutes from time with the Walsham striker through one-on-one.
