Soham Town Rangers joint-boss Dave Theobald says everything at the club is "finally clicking" after his men secured two excellent victories this week.
The Greens clinched their first three points since September 10 last Saturday courtesy of Salim Relizani’s solitary strike against AFC Hornchurch, and followed that with a result no-one in the division would have envisioned – a 4-0 drubbing of top-of-the-league Cheshunt on Tuesday night.
The in-form Ryan Sharman netted a brace and further goals from Victor Adeboyejo and Joe Tennent sealed Soham’s finest success this season, leaving boss Theobald delighted with his side’s progress.
“It’s been a really good week,” he said. “It started on Saturday with a great win over a difficult Hornchurch side and then was capped with a fantastic performance on Tuesday.
“They were both excellent performances and results we deserved.”
Soham’s shock performance against Cheshunt gained them the plaudits from football fans across the division, but Theobald, pictured, says nothing has changed within the club and their success is the result of hard work on the training pitch.
“We’ve been working really hard in training and that hard work is finally coming into fruition,” he said.
“Everything seems to be finally clicking and we’re taking our chances in the final third.”
Theobald has now set his men a target of grabbing a third straight victory – a feat they haven’t managed since pre-season – when they take on Heybridge Swifts on Saturday.
The Swifts, who sit one place above Soham in the league standings, have had an inconsistent season but Theobald is wary of the Essex side after they bagged an impressive 5-0 success over Great Wakering Rovers on Tuesday.
“It will be a difficult task going to Heybridge,” he said.
“They’ve had a good win in the week so they will be high in confidence.”
