SWIFTS looked impressive, losing only one of their first 14 league outings and at the same time making progress in both cup competitions.
They were never quite as good after the 4-0 cup defeat at Bassingbourn however, and managed to win only three of their remaining 12 league fixtures to drop off the promotion pace.
They drew twice with champions Mepal Sports and beat the runners-up March Rangers, but were ultimately undone by their poor record in the second half of the campaign.

RESERVES also faded in the second half of the season, winning just two of their last 12 matches as they faded into eighth spot.
Immediately prior to that they had won four league matches in succession, beating March Rangers (second), Haddenham Rovers Reserves (fifth), Ely Crusaders (third) and Burwell (sixth) in the process.
They took only one point from their last five outings however, and it is difficult to know what to expect next time around.
KERSHAW LEAGUE FIXTURES 2007/2008
CLUBS will be hoping to make the most of home advantage when the Kershaw Premier League programme gets underway in the third week of August.
Fordham and Littleport Town open with Tuesday night home clashes against Wickhambrook and Cottenham United respectively (August 14), and last season's Senior A champions, Ely City Reserves, open their campaign the following night when they entertain League Cup holders Histon A at the Unwin Ground.
Fordham clash with Littleport Town on the following Tuesday evening (August 21) and the following evening Ely welcome Waterbeach.
The first Saturday fixture (August 25) matches Littleport with Over Sports, and on the following Wednesday Ely clash with local rivals Fordham.
In Senior Division A Soham Town Rangers Reserves travel to Fulbourn Institute (Wednesday, August 15) and Brampton (August 25) in their opening games, while in Senior B there are interesting fixtures for both Littleport Town Reserves and Soham United.
Soham have been reprieved again after two successive relegation campaigns, and will be hoping to win their opener at West Row Gunners (August 15) before entertaining Outwell Swifts (Wednesday, August 22) and Milton the following Saturday.
Promoted Littleport perform on the same dates, travelling to Outwell and Swavesey either side of a home clash with West Row Gunners.
