AFTER finishing as runners-up twice in the last three years, Haddenham Rovers Colts under-11s A have been crowned as champions of the annual Cottenham five-a-side competition.

Rovers began their campaign with a goalless draw, but won all their remaining matches and conceded just one goal.

John Falconer top scored with six goals, Jake Bartolozzi hit three and Alex Lowe netted a brace to guide Rovers to the final.

Strikers Oliver Holden and Joe Snooks produced some excellent link play and Matthew Morton was a driving force in midfield as the entire squad played as a fantastic team unit.

Haddenham were always the better team in the final against the hosts. The only goal came just before half time when captain Alex Lowe's low drive gave them a deserved win.

Haddenham A: Richard Padmore, Joe Snooks, Jake Bartolozzi, Matthew Morton, Alex Lowe, Oliver Holden, John Falconer.

Under-14

Ely City 3 Spartak 5

THE game came to life in the second half, but City came out as second best.

In a tight first period, Ely lost Dan Beavis to injuries before Spartak scored to take a 1-0 lead into the break.

Spartak raced into a 4-0 lead before Jordan Miller struck a well-placed shot past the keeper.

City fought back and created chances but Spartak hit a fifth. Miller scored his second and keeper and player of the match Tom Jordan produced a superb save to keep Ely in the match.

Ely pulled another goal back when Matt Waites smashed the ball in and, although they created further chances, Spartak held on to the win.
