Ely were largely undone by CRC's Adam Marriot who, atop of being a constant thorn in the side, was ruthless in front of goal netting a brace for his efforts.

It was Marriot who put the home side ahead mid-way through the first-half before Andy Pettit brought The Robins back on terms from the spot. Tony Brown was adjudged to have been pushed in the area by CRC's Rory McAuley and Pettit slotted home the resulting spot-kick with the minimum of fuss.

CRC's Cambridge United loanee Courtney Pitt showed his skills as he jinked down the wing in the build up to the home side's second. Having beaten a couple of Ely players, Pitt managed to pick out Sam Ives who duly netted to restore CRC's lead. Ely responded well though, and were once again on terms when Brady Stone blasted home from the edge of the box to equalise for the second time in the game.

Despite being in fine fettle up front, the Robins remained fragile at the back and McAuley atoned for his earlier sins by tapping home a cross from Luke Berry to put CRC back in the lead. To compound their misery Ely saw their goalscorer Brady Stone dismissed for a second-bookable offence.

Any hope of a remarkable third equaliser were dealt a further blow when Tony Brown also found himself sent to an early bath having picked up a second yellow.

The game was wrapped up in the latter stages when Marriot bagged his second of the game having been sent clear by Jack Bailey.
