MIDFIELDER Matt Robinson is out for the rest of the season after being airlifted to hospital during a miserable match for Soham.
Robinson, one of the Greens' best players this term, may have damaged medial ligaments after getting his studs caught in the turf after 20 minutes.
He was taken by air ambulance to Colchester Hospital after the incident, which overshadowed a largely poor Soham performance.
"If it is medial ligament damage, then it's a big blow for us because Matt has been one of our most influential players this season," admitted Greens boss Ian Benjamin.
"We hope he has a speedy recovery but if the injury's that bad, then we've lost him for the rest of the season."
Halstead scored the only goal of the game after 25 minutes, and they were deservedly ahead at half-time with Soham not at the races.
Things got better for the visitors in the second half, with Tom Benjamin and Andy Furnell both missing chances, but Halstead held out.
"It's probably the most disappointing Soham performance I've seen since I've been at the club," said a rueful Benjamin.
"I told the players before the game that if we treated it as anything other than a match against AFC Sudbury we would have a tough day.
"The first half display cost us. Our crossing was poor on the day and, even though the second half was better, we never really looked like scoring. Everything just went from bad to worse on the day.
