MILLENIUM CUP SEMI-FINAL

Ely Park Rangers Reserves will meet Shelford Falcons Reserves in the final of the competition after a comprehensive 5-0 victory against a poor-looking Babraham outfit.

Dave Cornwell blazed a fifth-minute penalty kick over the top, but Andrew Francis broke the ice soon afterwards with a fine low shot from the edge of the area.

Martin Blakeley then doubled the home advantage, and man-of-the-match Francis made the interval score 3-0 with another brilliant effort.

Rangers grabbed a fourth goal when Andrew Lee and Martin Gray combined with Francis to complete his hat-trick with a header, and Lee Abbs added number five after Lee and Francis were again at the heart of things for Ely.

LEAGUE MATCHES

Ely Park Rangers kept their 1A championship hopes alive with an 8-0 victory over Univ Chem Labs.

Ely were always in control, and the goals were shared between Richie Murfitt (2), Liam Hart (2), Rob Parker, Lee Follen, Darren Brodie and Richard Dewsbury in a comfortable success.

In Division 2A QPR Ely were crushed 8-2 at Cambridge Magpies, but in Division 4A AFC Witchford ran out 11-0 winners against Alma Reserves.

Mark Heading (4), Michael Ward (2), Gary Heading, Ben Barnwell, James Monteith and two own goals made up Witchford's 11-goal tally, but Alma had started with 10 men and were subsequently reduced to eight by injury.

Shane Feltwell's cracking free-kick gave West End House the lead in their 4A match at Girton Eagles Reserves, but he was instrumental in the home side's equaliser, heading the ball over his own advancing goalkeeper for an easy tap-in.
