NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: Brentwood Town defeat was Soham Town Rangers' worst display of the season, says Okay

Erkan Okay has slammed Soham Town Rangers after they slumped to a second straight league defeat last night.
Assistant boss Okay says the Greens’ 3-1 midweek defeat to Brentwood Town was their worst display of the season and has questioned the commitment of his squad after a lacklustre performance at Julius Martin Lane.
He said: “I’ll be honest about the Brentwood game – I was embarrassed and ashamed to be a part of what was the worst performance of the season.
“We have questioned people’s desire and passion after the game as it was evident there was none out there, which is the most disappointing thing to come out of it.
“That won’t be accepted any longer and players attitudes have to change if they want to progress in the game.
“Rob and myself have put all our belief in this group which is a young group but they have to start proving to people that we were right to believe in them. The only way to do that is to work harder in everything they do.”
Soham fell behind after half an hour but levelled seven minutes before the break through Will Gardner.
They were only level for three minutes as Izzy Bademosi reinstated the visitors’ lead, before Matt Price added a third for the Essex side with 10 minutes to play.
Defeat will have hurt for the Greens, who looked to have hit form after they won two of their first three matches in November.
That defeat was the second by the same score-line in what has been a disappointing week for the Greens. Jon Kaye found the net in a 3-1 defeat to Malton & Tiptree on Saturday.
“Against Maldon we came up against a decent outfit,” Okay added.
“Although we competed well, some poor decision making cost us the game. We have to be better with our game management.”
Soham, who are 15th in the Bostik North standings, travel to another side struggling for form of late – Grays Athletic – on Saturday (3pm).
Grays sit two places below Soham and haven’t experienced a league win since October 21.
