This is the team Littleport annihilated 7-2 at home last month.

Littleport put on an impressive first half display scoring three goals against 9th placed Marchester United at Littleport Leisure Centre last Saturday securing a resounding victory as the only goal scored in the second half was a consolation late one by the visitors.

A deft header from former Ely City Reserves man Louie Diver broke the deadlock early on to give Littleport a deserved lead. And the home side’s dominance was again to be rewarded when their top goal scorer Will Rolls notched up his 22nd league goal of the season scoring a stunning long range shot from a tight angle. It left the opposition goalkeeper totally stranded to extend their lead 2-0.

Littleport still continued to pepper the Marchester goal and were eventually rewarded with a 3rd goal when Diver’s superbly accurate in-swinging cross, found the advancing Joe Murfitt, who sweetly struck home from close range in the 32nd minute.

In the second half Littleport had numerous goal chances that were blocked, as the visitors defence continued to frustrate the home side. And in this tightly fought match produced a consolation goal courtesy of their top goal scorer Lewis Greening, who bagged his 25th league goal of the season late min the game.

“I’m delighted at what this young side has achieved competing in such a tough competitive league as we push on to secure more league points and put pressure on the top two,” said the Littleport Manager Lee Yearn, whose side have only three matches remaining which includes playing hosts to Cottenham United A team next Saturday at 3 pm.

Littleport have the upper hand having already recorded a 2-0 away league win over Cottenham last November with goals from Ryan Christmas and Chris Jay.
