ELY boss Denis Lightning hopes he can avoid next week's Cambs Cup tie against Great Shelford descending into a kicking match.

The now infamous tie is set to be replayed for a third time on Tuesday evening and Lightning is hoping for a quick and definite resolution to the saga, "To be honest this whole thing has dragged out for some time now and we just want it over and done with.

"We are not looking to get drawn into any of the physical stuff and I hope personally that it doesn't turn into a kicking match on the night" he said.

The Robins were forced to replay the tie for a third time after a complaint by Shelford boss Steve Holden that they had fielded an ineligible player in the team's first replay. The Cambs FA upheld the decision and the second replay was ordered for Tuesday 27.
