HADDENHAM Rovers Colts completed a superb season with a crunching win in miserable conditions at Newmarket.

The home team controlled the opening period and went in front on the break after eight minutes, re-taking the lead again after man-of-the-match Nick Threadgold had equalised for Haddenham.

In the second period, Josh Lowe equalised within a minute and then made it 3-2.

Matt Beary then struck his first of the match and Matt Wright added number five. Threadgold then hit in two rasping strikes to complete his first hat trick, and in the final period Beary made it 8-2 and Lowe completed his fourth hat-trick of the campaign to wrap up the victory and complete a fantastic season.

Witchford Colts 3 Stretham Sporting 1

WITCHFORD ended their season on a high with a win against a very spirited Stretham side.

Colts scored first through Louis Green, but Stretham hit back early in the second half with a great effort.

Ollie Richards restored Witchford's lead scoring straight from a corner, and the third goal came from captain and man of the match Ollie Short who worked tirelessly and inspired his team throughout.

Waterbeach Colts five-a-side Tournament

Witchford Colts - who are still looking for good players to strengthen their ever-improving team for next season - were the winners of the under-13 category at the weekend after a number of closely-fought and thrilling matches.

They won three, drew one and lost one of their five First Round matches, scoring seven goals which were shared between CJ Porterthaw (6) and Jamie Woor.

Witchford faced hosts Waterbeach in the semi-final, with Porterthaw on target twice in a 2-1 win. Only a last-ditch goal-line clearance from Benedict Squires prevented the match from going into extra-time however.

Although Witchford had lost to Chesterton Villa in the First Round, it was Cambridge Musketeers who faced them in the final.

Again it was a very close, tense affair, decided by Woor who nudged the ball over the line during a first-minute goalmouth scramble.
