SOHAM Under 18s were held to a goalless draw at home to Wisbech thanks to the sterling efforts of the visiting keeper.
Though they dominated much of the play, Gavin Stevenson's side were held at bay by a magnificent performance from the Fenman's keeper who denied the Greens a deserved win on countless occasions.
The draw sees Soham usurped in top spot by Downham Town, though the Greens have the chance to retake the lead by virtue of their game in hand.
Rangers started the game with every intent on keeping their top spot in the North League and they spent much of the opening half camped in the Wisbech half.
Early chances for Dan Sterna and Gareth Suttle slipped wide and Jordan Alexander also went close, but was denied by the vigilance of the visiting keeper.
The second period started on a more even keel, with Wisbech hitting a barrage of long balls which started to unsettle the Greens. On the hour substitutes Sheridan Stevens and Aaron Carmen were introduced as Rangers switched to 4-3-3 in search of a goal.
First Davis then Stevens were denied by superb saves with Suttle just unable to get to the rebound from the latter's effort.
Not entirely out of the game however, Wisbech remained a threat on the break and could have stolen the points when Sexton miscued a header. Luckily for the defender though, the shot was mishit.
Twice in the closing minutes Chamberlain had to turn away good efforts in the last 15 minutes as both sides chased a goal but neither of the teams were ultimately able to forge a breakthrough.
